We answer the questions your data already knows.

What does your organisation's data actually say?

Aurora Pioneer is a consultancy that investigates strategic questions using structured evidence. We work with public-sector bodies, foundations, and mission-led organisations to turn messy data into decisions that hold up to scrutiny.

The findings rarely made it past the executive summary, so we left to fix that.

How we work

The question comes first

Before we touch a spreadsheet, we spend time agreeing on the exact question the work needs to answer. Vague briefs produce vague findings. We push back until the question is specific enough to be falsifiable.

We show our working

Every deliverable includes a methodology annex. Clients can see which data sources we used, how we cleaned them, and where the uncertainty lies. Nothing is presented as more certain than it is.

We write for the reader, not the reviewer

Reports are written so that a busy director can read the executive summary and understand the finding, without needing to decode statistical jargon. The technical detail is there for those who want it.

Who

"Ruth Hutton spent eight years as a quantitative analyst at a mid-size policy research institute before leaving to build Aurora Pioneer in 2018. Her earlier work included a longitudinal study of municipal budget allocations across forty-three local authorities, published in a regional governance journal, and a commissioned data audit for a national infrastructure body. She trained in applied statistics at the University of Edinburgh and later completed a methods fellowship focused on public-sector evidence synthesis. Her work has appeared in Apolitical, the New Statesman's policy supplement, and several government white-paper annexes. Outside the office, she keeps a running log of every book she finishes, annotated with the date and a single sentence of verdict."
